GUIDE TO THE COTSWOLDS

GET TO KNOW
OUR COTSWOLDS

Honey-stone villages, proper country pubs, great walks and a few places you might not expect. This is our corner of the Cotswolds.

Dumbleton sits quietly between the Cotswolds and the Vale of Evesham, with some of the region's loveliest places within easy reach.

Make the estate your base. From Broadway and Winchcombe to hill walks, historic houses, local makers and memorable drives, these are the places we'd make time for.

Daylesford Organic: The Farm Shop That Became a Destination

Calling Daylesford a farm shop is technically accurate in the same way that calling Dumbleton a house is technically accurate. It is a full-scale Cotswold food pilgrimage — beautiful produce, bakery, cheese, homewares, restaurants and an uncanny ability to make a basket cost rather more than planned.

Stanway House: The Cotswold Curiosity Most Visitors Miss

Stanway is gloriously eccentric: a Jacobean manor, medieval tithe barn, water garden and a gravity-fed fountain that fires a single jet roughly 300 feet into the air.

Made Here: Finding the Cotswolds’ Makers

The Cotswolds’ prettiness can obscure something more interesting: this has long been a place where people make things. The Arts and Crafts legacy survives in pottery, textiles, wood, metal and workshops scattered across the region.

Four Cotswold Pubs Worth Leaving the Hotel For

The best country pubs are not interchangeable. One has a view, another centuries of village history, another sits at the end of a walk. These are four we would happily build an afternoon around.

Sudeley Castle & a Day in Winchcombe

Sudeley gives you the sweep of English history without requiring a cross-country expedition from Dumbleton. Castle rooms, ruins and gardens sit immediately outside Winchcombe, making the two an easy pairing.

Walking Bredon Hill: Big Views and a Pint at the Finish

Bredon Hill feels like the local answer to the better-known Cotswold escarpment walks: a proper climb, enormous views and, crucially, a village pub waiting where you started.

A Walk Above Broadway: Broadway Tower & the Cotswold Way

This is the Cotswold walk to recommend when someone wants views, a landmark and lunch afterwards without sacrificing the whole day. The official circular climbs from Broadway to the tower and returns on the Cotswold Way.

Snowshill: A Village, a Manor and One Magnificent Eccentric

Snowshill Manor is less about stately grandeur than one man’s glorious obsession. Charles Paget Wade filled it with the things that fascinated him — craftsmanship, costume, armour, toys and curiosities.

Broadway, Before Everyone Else Arrives

Broadway is famous for a reason: a broad, immaculate High Street of Cotswold stone beneath the escarpment. The secret is timing. See it early, before the day-trippers turn a village into a destination.

Winchcombe: The Cotswold Town We’d Send a Friend To

Winchcombe has all the honey-coloured stone you came to the Cotswolds for, but enough ordinary life to stop it feeling like a film set. It is the town we would choose for an unhurried morning of wandering.

Inside Morgan: Where British Sports Cars Are Still Made by Hand

Morgan has been building sports cars in Malvern since 1909. A factory tour gets beyond the badge and onto the working production floor, where traditional hand skills sit alongside modern engineering.

Prescott Hill Climb: The Cotswolds at Full Throttle

There is a wonderfully un-Cotswold sound hidden among these hills: racing engines. Prescott has been home to the Bugatti Owners’ Club since the 1930s, and its hill climb remains one of Britain’s great places to watch competition cars being used as intended.
